Happy Thanksgiving

Katharine, Brad, John and Max came to see us during their Thanksgiving break.  They arrived at Heathrow around noon on Saturday.  They did well with the time change and Sunday we were off on our first adventure to Warwick castle.  It took us about an hour and 45 minutes.   It was a typical English day, damp and chilly, but the children didn't seem to mind.

John and Kate were excellent roommates.  I can't say the same for Harry and Max.

To Warwick Castle we go.

I thought about telling people this was our Christmas Tree.

Henry VIII and  his wives

We climbed many narrow, steep, stairs to reach the top of the towers to get some of the pictures of the nearby landscape. Katharine and I got tickled on the way up because Harry was so anxious to get to the top, he almost ran down an elderly couple that was slowing us down.  He just didn't understand why they weren't going any faster and why he couldn't just go through them.

We finally reached the top.

I wish we had one of these at home.

After getting the turkey in the oven we went to Windsor Castle on Thanksgiving Day.  It was a beautiful day and fortunately for us it was not a busy day for tourists.  We didn't have to wait in any lines and the boys were delighted to eat lunch at McDonald's.  We picked up Kate from school and finished our preparations for dinner.  We had the traditional meal with turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce and Brad's delicious pecan and pumpkins pies.  We also served Yorkshire puddings to give  it a little British spin.  Friday we said goodbye to the Turners and they boarded the marathon flight bound to Atlanta.  It was great to spend the holiday, although there was no holiday here, with family.

We named the turkey Tom.
