Best of Britsh

Last Saturday was the Crowthorne Carnival complete with a procession (or a parade as we call it), and a fete (or a fair).  Local schools, churches and other organizations worked for weeks planning their floats appropriate to the them "The Best of British."  Christopher and I both helped out on Kate's school float as well as Kate and I made tissue paper food for Harry's float.  The shops on the High Street competed for the best storefront.  It was a very festive event; bunting and ballons were draped all along the High Street.  The weather unfortunately was not the Best of British and as soon as the parade was starting to wrap up a torrential downpour ensued and we were soaked.

The theme for Harry's school float was the Best of British food.  Harry screamed as we walked to put him on the float.  He did not want to dress up as a chef and wave.  His picture is on the front page of the Crowthorne Times and his expression says it all.

Kate's school float won first prize for schools!!  It's theme was the British seaside.

The shoe store won second place for the storefront competition.

1st prize went to the COATs charity shop.

All of the windows were really well done.
