Happy Easter!

I realized that while the English do have Easter Egg hunts they do not use the hard plastic eggs filled with candy that we're used to; instead, everything is chocolate.  I have never seen so many chocolate bunnies and enormous chocolate eggs, which are the norm when it comes to Easter candy here. No peeps to be found either.  I looked everywhere for the plastic eggs that are so plentiful at home only to end up buying the tiny chocolate foil wrapped eggs in the end.  They made for a challenging easter egg hunt but Kate and Harry were up to it and had fun, though they did require more coaching than usual.  We also had a bit of a problem finding white eggs to dye.  Of course there were no dyeing kits to buy so we mixed our own and found white duck eggs at the Costco.  Christopher and the kids blew the eggs so we had a nice duck egg scramble Easter morning.

We planned to go the church across the street.  We had an unpleasant experience at this church last summer but it is so convenient we decided to try it again.   Everyone was dressed and ready to go, but just as we were taking some photos and walk out the door we realized Joseph had a major diaper blow out.  Easter outfit destroyed.  So I stayed home with him and Christopher, Kate and Harry went to church.  Christopher thought the service was ok until they ended the service with Amazing Grace instead of The strife is o'er the Battle is Won, one of our Easter favorites.  We listened to it on Youtube instead.

We had our traditional meal of ham (from Costco), potato salad and deviled eggs.  The children ate a ton of chocolate and everyone was pleased with Easter.

We have this week off of school.  Kate's dance recital is this coming weekend so she will be in rehearsals all week.  The show is shaping up to be quite something (they only do it every 3 years) but Kate's part as a sheep is quite small.  She seems to be enjoying it but the rehearsal schedule is a little extreme.  We will be going back and forth everyday.

I was hoping for some warmer weather for our spring break but it is supposed to rain everyday and the highs are topping out around 55. Not ideal.  Susan and Doug, you picked the right week to visit!
